Kaya Mawa Lodge is at the head of a crescent-shaped bay on Likoma Island, surrounded by mango trees and ancient baobabs. This remote island is home to a very small community, surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of Lake Malawi. The location is perfect for a holiday of total relaxation, and its remote location makes it ideal for romantics. Spend your days swimming at the beach or in the swimming pool.
Kaya Mawa Lodge uses stunning natural surroundings to create holiday accommodation of unique character, imagination and very special ambiance. With no machinery available on the island, Kaya Mawa Lodge was built entirely by hand, in partnership with the local community. It consists of ten stone and teak-framed thatched cottages set into a granite headland. There is a honeymoon chalet tucked away on its own romantic and private island that is reached by boat or a wooden walkway.
Kaya Mawa accommodates a maximum of 26 guests in a delightful range of accommodation each one entirely different from the next. Each room has, raised four poster mahogany bed, sunken bath, shower and toilet, fans, soaps and shampoos, outside seating area, insect repellent.

Enter through an arched doorway, making your way down the steps passing the bath (set under a huge rock) and shower you arrive at a private deck set off to the side of the bedroom. The wooden walk-way allows you to make the best of the lake. Jump in and snorkel meters from your bed in the crystal clear waters and watch the abundance of fish that the lake has to offer.
Nhkwazi: Almost at the top of a rocky knoll Nkwhazi boasts 180 degree views down the lake and across to Mozambique.Three split level decks and a plunge pool with seating for two. Leading out from the bedroom is the bathroom and a “loo with a view.”>
